Where Ratepayers & Residents Can Have Their Say about Council Issues

Thankyou sooo much for setting this up!
I would love to keep the park and this, I think, is a great way to help get at the council!
Residents of overseas countries envy the fact that Australia has the opportunity to have space to develop open areas for outside activities. I choose to live in Adelaide because of the community support & interaction, parks & gardens and democracy. The secrecy, theft, and bullying that our members of council i.e. Charles Sturt are using in relation to St Clair Reserve, represent countries policies, that residents of Australia are opposed to.
This is brilliant. While I live in Playford Council, we’ve had issues where the council, in hand with Services to Youth want to take our reserves and convert into housing – this has been defeated in both Elizabeth North and Craigmore, each time getting several hundread people opposing the locations of the housing sites. There was at no tim talk of creating open spaces in response to the land they were going to take
I think that it is time the people in Adelaide stood up – not just with the state election in March 2010 but also with the council elections to be run later in November 2010
Councillor Christopher Wallis of the Hindmarsh Ward earned his position in Council by gaining the respect of voters when he as a rate payer stood up to Council to argue a proposed housing development at the Carnarvon Parade Reserve, West Croydon which would have halved the size of the reserve. He was successful in maintaining the whole reserve and the residents were and are still extremely grateful to him. Not only did he maintain the reserve, he lobbied to have it improved with new park facilities and vegetation. Now I find it surprising that he as a Councillor is voting for the land swap at St Clair. It is obvious he was only concerned about Carnarvon Parade Reserve because he and his family reside in a very close proximity to it. Perhaps if he resided adjacent to St Clair he would not be voting for the land swap!! Councillor Wallis remember why the people voted for you – as a member of Council you should be looking after all rate payers’ interests, not just yours.
Residents & ratepayers state wide are having problems with councils where development is high on the agenda.
Communities are being ignored for the sake of the big $$$.
Proper consultation & representation is not occuring, especially in regional areas where some councils think they can do as they please & get away with it by looking after their own interests & not the ratepayers.
I suggest forming a state wide group for residents & ratepayers.
Congratulations to the residents for uniting on this big issue on hehalf of our children who dont have a vote, this is about their future
